Lead Integration and Test Technician at Relativity Space

Relativity seeks a highly talented Lead Integration and Test Technician to join a rapidly growing space startup. The Integration and Test team is responsible for the final assembly, integration and checkouts of the Terran 1 launch vehicle stages spanning across propulsion, structures and avionics.  As the lead technician in the area you will work closely with the engineering team and will be responsible for spearheading all work on the production floor including delegation and mentoring of other technicians.


The Mission/Outcomes and Objectives

Our mission is to change people’s conception of the way rockets are built and flown. As the Lead Integration and Test Technician you will be the first technician on the team and will play a major role in pathfinding the integration and testing of Terran 1.  The ability to perform work at the highest quality with minimal direction across all major technical disciplines is key.  As the team grows, you will mentor the other technicians and work closely with engineering to ensure priorities are aligned.

Candidate Profile 

In order to be successful in this role, you should be the master of diverse skills having practical experience working and resolving issues in propulsion, structures and avionics integration.  Your day to day responsibilities could include final installation of Aeon engines onto the stage, fluid system integration and checkouts, avionics harnessing installation and avionics system checkouts, as well as support for hardware removal and replacement at headquarters or the test and launch sites.  You should be able to generate logical work instructions and test procedures with minimal direction from engineering while also being able to provide areas for improvement to the design teams.  Quality and attention to detail with a track record of success is critical.


Minimum Required Skills and Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace final integration and test or a related field
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Track record of high quality workmanship (minimal escapes) on complex aerospace or equivalent assemblies
  • Proficiency with reading engineering work instructions and procedures
  • Experience working around and troubleshooting high-pressure fluid systems
  • Experience with instrumentation installation, harnessing and electrical troubleshooting
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills, experience training others on manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work non-standard shifts, overtime, and weekends as required


Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • 10+ year experience with final integration and test of a flown liquid orbital launch vehicle
  • Experience using work orders, inventory requests, schematics, and drawings
  • Trained to operate man lifts, fork lifts, telehandlers, and overhead cranes
  • Comfortable working at heights and/or confined spaces
