Senior Systems Engineer at Agility Robotics

With the availability of our new robot Digit, customers can, for the first time, apply agile bipedal mobility to solve real-world problems. Equipped with Agility’s mobility controller, perception, and arms, Digit can move through and interact with the world. This capability expands our markets to logistics, inspection, defense, telepresence, and entertainment.

A successful Senior Systems Engineer candidate will serve as our hardware systems architect and help guide the development of electrical and mechanical systems that include analog, power and digital circuit boards, embedded microcontrollers, custom servos and servo drives, firmware, integrated cameras and sensors, embedded computers, software wireless communications, mechanical assemblies, test fixtures and procedures. In this role, he/she will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, customer service, sales, and application engineering departments to develop detailed product specifications and qualification criteria.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Heavy involvement at the "System" level of electrical, mechanical, firmware, software
  • Support designing with SOC's, microcontrollers, microprocessors (ARM)
  • Involvement in design, debug of peripheral communication interfaces (EtherCAT, USB, I2C, SPI, MIPI, etc.)
  • Design and debug of systems using various sensors and transducers
  • General digital and analog electrical design, microcontroller firmware design, mechanical control systems, and embedded software
  • Take designs from concept through manufacturing
  • Support Manufacturing with test fixture and software design, test procedures and debug
  • Build and test proof-of-concept and initial prototype hardware
  • Interface with vendors and customers as needed
  • Collaborate with other disciplines within the company

Required qualifications:
  • BS in Electrical, Robotics or Computer Engineering, or equivalent 
  • 10+  years of hands-on experience including leadership roles
  • Mechatronics experience
  • Ability to work at a system level
  • Experience designing systems that include antennas, wireless RF communication
  • Experience with industry-standard CAD/CAE tools
  • Ability to write and review engineering specifications,  reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Solid troubleshooting skills
  • Self-motivated, organized and able to work independently
  • Authorized to work in the United States
