Senior Systems Administrator at Ayar Labs

General Description

This is a full-time role with responsibilities in both the Emeryville and Santa Clara offices, responsible for setup and ongoing maintenance of hardware and software tools for all Ayar Labs employees.   The role will be focused on managing Ayar’s compute resources for engineering and our general purpose IT infrastructure.   In addition, this role will also be responsible for implementing and managing our cybersecurity infrastructure and policies.   The position is a hybrid work environment, split between working from home and being in the office depending on what is needed at the time.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing Linux HPC cluster and IT infrastructure 
  • NIST 800-171 compliance - design, implementation and on-going management
  • Respond is helpdesk tickets and assist in day to day IT operations
  • Develop innovative ways to better the IT experience for employees as we rapidly grow
  • Ensure internet access is available and adequate in both the Emeryville and Santa Clara offices
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Create hardware and software upgrade plans and execute on them
  • Keep our knowledge base up-to-date and provide training when needed
  • Maintain asset inventory, software purchases, licenses
  • Own and drive multiple IT projects and deliverables 
  • Optimize HPC cluster 
  • Support engineering computer requirements
  • Monitor systems to ensure high availability to engineering resources
  • Rotating on-call pagerduty
  • Manage hardware in local datacenter
  • Integration of cloud services with IT infrastructure

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in IT in a professional environment
  • Linux cluster management and maintenance
  • Experience with security and privacy standards such as NIST 800-171 or similar
  • Extensive technical knowledge of Linux
  • Basic knowledge of Windows 10
  • Strong network fundamentals and support experience (network configs, VPN, printing, etc)
  • Experience with HPC environments - schedulers, hardware architecture, clustering
  • Experience w/ KVM virtualization

Desired Skills
  • Linux, networking, Windows 10, MacOS
  • Prometheus/Loki/Grafana, Proxmox, HPC
  • Google Admin Experience
  • Slack admin, Box admin, Jira & Confluence, OKTA or SAML knowledge
  • Maintaining FlexNet licensing for EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor, ANSYS, etc.)
  • Cisco VPN and networking experience
